Plans to manufacture over 3 lakh Samsung smart TVs a year

Fair Electronics plans to manufacture more than three lakh Samsung smart televisions a year, and it has already invested around Tk1,000 croreto this end.

Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem, chairman of the National Board of Revenue, inaugurated the Fair Electronics' Samsung Smart TV manufacturing plant in Narsingdi on Saturday.

Bomin Kim, general manager of Samsung Electronics Bangladesh, and other top officials of the company were present on the occasion.

According to Fair Electronics authorities, the official inauguration of the plant was delayed due to the Covid pandemic, but it has already sent to market50,000 to 60,000 TVs produced at the plant.

According to Fair Electronics, the 32,000-square-foot factory will produce 20 models of Samsung TVs of seven sizes.

Televisions deploying the most innovative technology, like quantum light-emitting diodes (QLED) will also be produced here and about 100 workers are already working in this factory.

Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem said that all Samsung Smart TVs, including their state-of-the-art 85-inch QLED TVs, are now being manufactured at the Fair Electronics factory.

"This will be a significant contribution to the light engineering technology industry in Bangladesh. Samsung's mobile phone and electronics factories are incentivizing foreign investment, and creating job opportunities as well," he added.

"We hopethey will play a key role in exports in the future."

Ruhul Alam Mahbub, chairman of Fair Group, said the TVs manufactured by Samsung's factory will accelerate the digitisation of Bangladesh by supporting various activities, including digital classrooms.

Mohammad Mezbah Uddin, chief marketing officer of Fair Group, said, "My company and I are proud to be associated with this new journey. Other foreign manufacturing companies that we are partnering with in Bangladesh will also focus on TV production."

He acknowledged the Bangladesh government for supporting them in their efforts through sound policies and policy support.

"We dream of building a digital Bangladesh and we will be able to get therethrough the manufacture of such smart products."

Fair Electronics is a manufacturer and marketer of Samsung mobile phones, TVs, refrigerators in Bangladesh, and marketers of air conditioners and microwave ovens.
