BSCIC listed in One Stop Service Act

The Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC)–under the Ministry of Industries–has been included in the One Stop Service Act, 2018 to attract domestic and foreign investment, reads a press release.

The Prime Minister's Office issued a notification, on July 19, including BSCIC in the act.  

BSCIC is the fifth institution to be listed in the act after the: Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority (BEZA), Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA), and Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, it adds.  

As a result of the inclusion in the One Stop Service Act, small, micro, cottage and medium industrialists can get: trade licenses, land registration, environmental clearances, and other relevant services online from a single place.

BSCIC is an institution founded by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. It has been working as a major institution for the development of small and cottage industries at the grassroots level since its inception, reads the press release.

At present, BSCIC has 76 industrial cities across the country. Additionally, BSIC has taken up a masterplan to set up 50 eco-friendly industrial parks on 20,000 acres of land in economically important areas by 2030.

The inclusion of BSCIC in the One Stop Service Act will ease the way to increasing domestic and foreign investment in these industrial cities.

BSCIC Chairman Md Mostaque Hassan, NDC, said, "With the inclusion of BSCIC in the One Stop Service Act, 2018, it will be possible to ensure fast service to those interested in investing."

This will attract new domestic and foreign investment in BSCIC industrial cities and will accelerate eco-friendly industrialisation in the country, he said.

To ensure one stop facilities for the investors, soon a project will be undertaken and consultants will be hired. Further, a floor will be dedicated for this at the BSCIC headquarters, he added.
