Action plan for Productivity Master Plan implementation by December

The action plan for implementing the Bangladesh Productivity Master Plan 2021–2030 will be finalised by December this year.
Bangladesh will start implementing the master plan from January 2021 for boosting productivity in different sectors, including industry, service and agriculture.
The decision came at the 19th meeting of the national productivity executive committee at the industries ministry on Sunday, said a press release. Industries Secretary Md Abdul Halim presided over the meeting.
A draft action plan will be prepared by June and it will then be finalised after consulting with the stakeholders.
In the meeting, the industries secretary put emphasis on making everyone related to the production chain skilled in a bid to increase productivity.
He also put stress on utilisation of time, manpower, raw materials and machinery used in the production process in mills and factories.
The meeting also discussed the details about boosting production skills in the state-run sugar mills.
The government took initiatives for enhancing production skills at sugar mills in Rajshahi, Natore and northern districts using the Material Flow Cost Accounting method. A team of technical experts of Japan-based Asian Productivity Organisation has done a primary survey in this regard.
Material Flow Cost Accounting is an instrument used by manufacturing companies to improve their material efficiency.
The method will be implemented in four phases to minimise production costs, grow productivity and reuse by-products of sugar mills. The same method will also be applied in 12 other state-run sugar mills.
The speakers at Sunday's meeting discussed expansion of training programmes at the district and upazila level to make the stakeholders more skilled in terms of productivity. The National Productivity Organisation was instructed to hold workshops and seminars to this end.
