Gas price hike to affect businesses: Tipu Munshi

Government will discuss the matter with businessmen on demand.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi has said that the latest gas price hike will have impacts on the country’s businesses.

“We will have to move ahead with the impacts of gas price hike,” the minister said after a meeting with the South Korean Ambassador Hu Kang Ilat at his ministry on Tuesday.

“How long will the government continue to provide huge subsidy to the gas sector?” he said in response to questions from reporters.

Tipu Munshi also said, “Local businessmen demanded discussion with the government before implementing the gas price hike…The government will discuss with businessmen in future.”

The minister further said, “We have to determine the price of products after the gas price hike.”

The minister also disclosed that the South Korean Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon will arrive in Bangladesh on a two-day visit on August 13.
