Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the country’s economic growth would reach 10 per cent within 2023-24 fiscal year.

The budget proposed for 2019-20 fiscal year on Thursday projects the growth rate at 8.2 per cent.

The PM on Friday reiterated her government’s plan for the country’s double-digit GDP during the post-budget press conference at Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital.

For the first time, the PM addressed the post-budget press conference owing to the illness of Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal.

While placing the budget in parliament, the finance minister suddenly fell ill and PM Sheikh Hasina delivered the budget speech on his behalf.

The Awami League government placed the country’s 48th budget with an outlay of Tk523,190 crore.
