In a collaboration between industry and academia, Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) to work on joint research for the greater benefit of the economy.

Shams Mahmud, president of DCCI and Professor Dr H M Jahirul Haque, vice chancellor of ULAB, signed the document on behalf of their respective organizations on Sunday at the university's permanent campus.

According to the MoU, DCCI and ULAB will jointly organize seminars, workshops, job fairs, develop models for industry-academia linkage and business conferences.

DCCI President said, "Developing the future generation into a skilled workforce will be a key milestone for industry-academia collaboration." He emphasized on the importance of technical and vocational education, which will meet the demands of the fourth industrial revolution.

He also proposed that ULAB researchers use the platform, Research and Innovation Bangladesh Foundation, an initiative of DCCI.

Vice Chancellor of ULAB said, "By signing the MoU, both parties will be able to work together for research and skill development. In order to give better output to the industries, we need to conduct more research."
