Registration opens for Sylhet International Marathon 2026
The Sylhet International Marathon 2026 is set to take place at Sylhet International Stadium on 8 August 2026, bringing together runners, fitness enthusiasts and visitors from Bangladesh and abroad.
Organised by The Athlete X, the event is expected to attract thousands of participants and promote Sylhet as a destination for sports, tourism and community engagement.
Registration for the marathon is now open, with organisers reporting growing interest among runners.
Sylhet, known for its tea gardens, rolling hills and natural landscapes, is expected to offer participants a distinctive running experience compared with regular city races. The organisers said the event will allow runners to experience the region's greenery, calm roads and early morning environment.
The Sylhet International Marathon 2026 is being positioned as more than a race, with a focus on fitness, tourism, friendship and community spirit. From first-time runners to experienced marathoners, participants will have the opportunity to join a platform that promotes active lifestyles and encourages people to explore Bangladesh through sport.
Organisers said international marathon events around the world have become platforms for unity, tourism and endurance, drawing runners while also benefiting local communities. The Sylhet event aims to bring a similar standard of race experience to Bangladesh.
The running culture in Bangladesh has grown steadily in recent years, with more people taking up running as both a sport and a lifestyle. Running communities across the country have also played an important role in promoting physical and mental well-being, health awareness, environmental consciousness and positive community engagement.
With thousands of runners expected, the marathon is also likely to support local tourism and business activity in Sylhet. Hotels, restaurants, transport services and other local businesses are expected to benefit from the arrival of participants and supporters from different regions.
Ahead of the race, training sessions, preparation runs and community meet-ups are being planned to help participants prepare for the event.
Organisers said the marathon will offer runners the chance to pursue personal goals, complete their first race or take part for the experience of running through one of Bangladesh's most scenic regions.
