Nagad records highest-ever first-quarter transactions
Nagad, a leading mobile financial service (MFS) provider in Bangladesh, reported a record-breaking transaction volume in the first quarter (January–March) of 2026.
The Postal Department-affiliated company processed over Tk111,355 crore in transactions during the period, representing a 20.97% year-on-year increase.
Nagad also posted robust growth in customer engagement and transaction volumes, reflecting rising consumer trust and underscoring its sustained upward trajectory.
In Q1 2025, Nagad's transactions stood at Tk92,054 crore, dipping slightly to Tk91,333 crore in Q2 before recovering to Tk92,125 crore in Q3. The company surpassed the Tk1 lakh crore milestone for the first time in Q4 2025, recording Tk102,381 crore in transactions.
Building on this momentum, transactions in Q1 2026 climbed to Tk111,355 crore, an 8.77% increase from the previous quarter.
Monthly transaction volumes fluctuated during the quarter. January saw transactions of Tk40,301 crore, then a drop to Tk29,585 crore in February due to temporary restrictions imposed on MFS operators during the election period. By March, Nagad set a new record with Tk41,469 crore in transactions.
During the quarter, Nagad achieved record highs in add-money from banks, merchant payments, and inward remittances, alongside strong growth in P2P transfers, cash-in, and cash-out transactions. The company also facilitated government allowance and stipend disbursements.
Md Motasem Billah, Administrator of Nagad, said, "Nagad remains the preferred choice for lower-middle-income and marginalised communities due to its cost-effectiveness. Our cash-out charge is Tk6.50 per Tk1,000—lower than any other operator—making us the most affordable option in the market."
He added, "Features such as free send money and low-cost remittance are driving growing public confidence in Nagad. This trust is enabling us to set new records each month and quarter. We are confident this momentum will continue in the coming days."
Since its inception, Nagad has focused on people-centric products and services, positively impacting the rural economy and contributing to the broader national economy. The platform has brought millions of unbanked individuals into the formal financial system.
