Monzurur Rahman re-elected chairman of Pubali Bank
Monzurur Rahman has been re-elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pubali Bank PLC for another two-year term.
He was unanimously re-elected at the 1,520th meeting of the bank's Board of Directors.
Rahman began his banking career in 1967, joining Eastern Mercantile Bank, the predecessor of Pubali Bank, as its youngest Director.
After the privatisation of Pubali Bank in 1983, he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors from 25 January, 1985, to 18 January, 1986.
He has also been serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors since 31 July, 2020.
Pubali Bank said his leadership and vision have contributed to the growth and modernisation of the bank.
Rahman belongs to a family that has made contributions to Bangladesh's banking and financial sectors.
Alongside his involvement in banking, he plays a role in Bangladesh's tea industry as Chairman of Rema Tea Company Ltd.
He also served as an Independent Director of LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Limited.
Rahman was born into a Muslim family of Kazi Bari in Cheora village under Chauddagram Upazila of Cumilla district.
His father, the late Khan Bahadur Mukhlesur Rahman, obtained a degree in Law from Calcutta University in 1916 and was a tea planter.
