IUBAT engineering programmes get international accreditation
The International University of Business Agriculture and Technology has achieved international accreditation for all its engineering programmes under the Washington Accord framework for six years.
The accreditation has been awarded by the Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education under the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh.
The accredited programmes are Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
According to the university, all four programmes have successfully obtained the recognition, marking a significant milestone among private universities in Bangladesh.
To celebrate the achievement, a daylong colourful programme was organised on the IUBAT campus on Tuesday (5 May).
The campus took on a festive atmosphere with the active participation of faculty members, students and alumni.
The celebration featured a rally, cultural performances, music, dance and interactive gatherings.
The discussion session was chaired by IUBAT Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Abdur Rab.
IUBAT Treasurer and Director of Administration Professor Selina Nargis, College of Engineering and Technology Dean Professor Dr Dewan Muhammad Nuruzzaman, IUBAT School of Computer Science and Engineering Dean Professor Dr Utpal Kanti Das, and Department of Civil Engineering Chair Professor Dr Md Monirul Islam attended the event.
Other faculty members and officials were also present.
Following the discussion session, popular band Warfaze performed live, adding a vibrant dimension to the celebration.
The university authorities said achieving this international accreditation signifies that the academic programmes meet globally recognised standards.
They said the recognition would provide students with enhanced opportunities for higher studies abroad, scholarships and employment in multinational organisations.
Continuous evaluation under the accreditation framework will also help improve curriculum quality and teaching standards, they added.
Furthermore, recognition under the Washington Accord framework is expected to open new avenues for global career prospects and professional recognition for graduates.
The Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education plays a vital role in ensuring the quality of engineering and technical education in Bangladesh.
Operating under the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh, the board evaluates academic programmes of higher education institutions and grants accreditation based on established standards.
