BRAC Bank organises remittance awareness conferences in Lalmonirhat, Naogaon
BRAC Bank recently organised two remittance awareness conferences in Lalmonirhat and Naogaon to promote the use of formal banking channels for inward remittances.
The events were held at the Patgram Agent Banking Outlet in Lalmonirhat and the Palashbari Agent Banking Outlet in Naogaon.
Expatriate families and local community members attended the interactive sessions, according to a press release.
The discussions focused on the safety and transparency of formal banking channels compared to the risks associated with informal channels such as hundi.
Bank officials said using legal channels not only protects individual funds but also strengthens the country's foreign exchange reserves and overall economic stability.
A key highlight of the sessions was the introduction of BRAC Bank's "Probashi Poribar" accounts.
Designed for expatriates and their families, the accounts offer access to savings and financial services, helping households build long-term financial resilience.
Bank representatives also encouraged beneficiaries to practise prudent financial management.
They advised customers to invest remittance funds in education, small businesses and asset creation, instead of spending only on immediate consumption.
BRAC Bank said the initiatives highlight the role of agent banking in advancing financial inclusion.
With a nationwide network of more than 1,120 agent banking outlets, the bank said it continues to extend banking services to underserved and remote communities, while encouraging digital adoption and improving financial literacy across Bangladesh.
