BRAC Bank introduces support programme for post-maternity employees
BRAC Bank has introduced a Post-Maternity Return-to-Work Support Programme to help new mothers transition back to work with confidence, dignity, and sustained wellbeing.
Designed as a holistic journey rather than a one-off intervention, the programme provides structured support before, during, and after maternity leave, addressing the emotional, medical, managerial, and workplace challenges faced by working mothers. The initiative reinforces the bank's commitment to building an inclusive and enabling work environment.
The programme focuses on advance planning prior to maternity leave, continued connection and care during the leave period, and structured reintegration upon return. It includes access to professional counselling and medical guidance, optional engagement touchpoints while on leave, sensitisation sessions for teams and people managers, and flexible work arrangements to ensure a smooth transition back to professional responsibilities.
Returning mothers receive tailored reintegration support, including flexible working hours, peer support within teams, and practical resources to ease their return to work.
Emotional wellbeing is a key component of the initiative. The programme offers group sessions on post-partum depression, ongoing counselling support, and information on day-care and caregiver facilities, reflecting the bank's commitment to employee wellbeing beyond the workplace.
The initiative also clearly defines the roles of line managers and HR business partners to ensure fair performance evaluation, unbiased reintegration, and outcome-focused management.
Commending the programme, Tareq Refat Ullah Khan, managing director and CEO of BRAC Bank, said, "Motherhood marks a wonderful new chapter in a woman's life. We want returning mothers to feel confident, respected, and cared for. This programme ensures they can return to work with dignity and the certainty that BRAC Bank supports them every step of the way."
As a values-driven organisation, BRAC Bank continues to translate its principles into concrete workplace practices, recognising that supporting motherhood is not a privilege but a responsibility of a progressive, people-focused institution.
