BADC chairman urges timely, quality implementation of development projects
Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation Chairman Md Azizul Islam has urged project directors to implement project activities by prioritising national and institutional interests, ensuring full quality standards and completing work within the stipulated time.
He made the remarks as the chief guest at a training programme on project management, public procurement management and document management, held at the organisation's conference room on 9 June 2026.
Project directors from different projects and other officials concerned attended the training.
The BADC chairman said sound planning is one of the key prerequisites for successful implementation of any programme.
He said activities that can be implemented within a specific financial year must be properly assessed and analysed at the beginning of the year, and a clear work plan must be prepared accordingly.
He also urged project directors to ensure transparent and accountable spending of allocated project funds by strictly following financial discipline and avoiding waste and misuse.
Md Azizul Islam said project directors must remain careful and proactive in ensuring proper expenditure under their respective projects.
He said after an agreement is signed between the project director and the contractor or development partner concerned, the work plan must be collected from the contractor at the outset to ensure completion within the timeframe specified in the contract.
He also stressed the need for close monitoring to ensure that the quality of project activities is maintained in line with the prescribed specifications.
The BADC chairman said project directors must have adequate and proper knowledge of the development project proposal, Public Procurement Rules and other financial discipline requirements for effective project implementation.
No decision should be taken on impulse if it goes against the success and development objectives of a project, he said.
He also emphasised the need to take all necessary steps to implement the government's strategies and objectives.
