AIUB students explore independent animation exhibition
Students from the Animation Track and Journalism Programme of American International University–Bangladesh attended the opening day of "The Second Studio Featuring Best Show Everest" at Alliance Française de Dhaka on 25 June, 2026.
Organised by Dhaka-based creative collective The Second Studio, the exhibition offered an immersive look into the creative and technical processes behind independent animation and visual storytelling in Bangladesh.
Founded by Oishik Jawad, Junaid Iqbal Ishmam and Rakeeb Razzaq, The Second Studio brings together expertise in animation, comics, illustration, game development, design and storytelling.
Through the exhibition, the artists showed how original concepts are developed into professionally produced visual works through a structured and collaborative production process.
A key feature of the exhibition was its detailed presentation of the animation production pipeline.
Students gained first-hand insight into the pre-production phase, including ideation, scripting, brainstorming, character and environment design, storyboarding and animatics.
They also learned about the production phase, where animation and visual assets are developed, and the post-production phase, which includes compositing, editing, sound design and audio engineering.
By presenting both final outputs and production materials, the exhibition illustrated how each stage contributes to visual storytelling and professional-quality animation.
The exhibition also featured "Dhaka Survivor", an infinite runner video game developed by The Second Studio.
Originally created for the exhibition "Cartoons for Equality: Preventing Violence Against Women and Girls", the game highlights the everyday challenges women face while navigating the streets of Dhaka. It also demonstrates how interactive media can be used to raise awareness of social issues.
Rani Ellen V Ramos, Lecturer of the Animation Track of the JMC Department, organised the educational visit.
The visit gave American International University–Bangladesh students exposure to the country's growing independent animation industry and its emerging creative practices.
