Aga Khan Academy hosts state minister to showcase inquiry-based education
State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj visited the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka on 3 June and praised its student-centred approach to learning, inquiry, and leadership development.
Sandy Mackenzie, Head of Academy, welcomed the state minister, joined by members of the Board of Directors of the Aga Khan Education Service, Bangladesh, and the Academy's leadership team.
During the visit, Hajjaj toured the Academy's award-winning, purpose-built campus and explored its learning spaces, facilities, and academic environment.
A highlight of the visit was the Primary Years Programme Exhibition, where Junior School students presented inquiry-based projects on issues of local and global importance.
Students shared their learning journeys with Hajjaj, describing their research on real-world topics, collaboration with peers, and contributions to their communities.
The exhibition highlighted the Academy's focus on inquiry, critical thinking, communication, and responsible action.
As part of the tour, Hajjaj visited classrooms and engaged students in discussions about their classwork and lessons.
He also visited the library to review the reading materials and resources available to students of all age groups.
Hajjaj was briefed on the Academy's learning environment, where students are encouraged to ask questions, express ideas, and engage actively in their studies.
The visit opened discussions on the role of education in preparing young people for a rapidly changing world.
Discussions also addressed the importance of nurturing ethical leadership, creativity, civic responsibility, and strong foundational learning among students.
Before concluding, Hajjaj expressed appreciation to the students, faculty, and leadership of the Academy for their commitment to high-quality education in Bangladesh.
