He urged officials to ensure that nobody misuses bond facilities

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan on Wednesday told all officials to collect revenue without harassing the taxpayers.

He also urged revenue officials to refrain from illegal activities.

The NBR chief made the comments while speaking at a view exchange meeting at the conference room of Chattogram Custom House.

"You should collect more revenue by persuading importers, C&F [clearing and forwarding] agents and other taxpayers. Ensure that nobody is misusing bond facilities. Maintain the rate of progress of your work," he said while addressing customs, VAT and tax officials of the Chattogram region.

Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan also said that vacant posts in the customs department will be filled up following proper recruitment procedures. He directed the heads of the concerned departments to send information about vacant posts to the NBR.

The NBR chief also spoke about appointing new officials and promoting the ones already working for the commission.

Among others, Chattogram Custom House Commissioner Mohammad Fakhrul Alam, VAT Commissioner Enamul Haque, Customs Commissioner Iqbal Hossain, Additional Customs Commissioners Akbar Hossain and Kazi Zia Uddin, and NBR Member Golam Kibria were also present at the meeting.
