Cabinet approves Tariff Commission law
The new law will be titled Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission Law 2019.

The cabinet gave its nod to the draft Bangladesh Tariff Commission (amendment) Law 2019, incorporating a provision allowing private researchers and consultants to run government research programmes.
The approval was given at the weekly meeting of the cabinet held at the Secretariat on Monday with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
The new law will be titled Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission Law 2019.
A total of four existing provisions of the draft law have been amended, said Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam while addressing reporters after the cabinet meeting.
Under the new law, the commission will keep secret its research findings so that no one can use those illegally for making benefits, said Shaiful Alam.
The functions of the commission will include tariff policy, international and regional transshipment, GSP, industrial policy, and investment policy, he added.
