“The government should increase the revenue this year and decrease the dependency level on the banking sector"

Dr Ahsan H Mansur, the executive director of Policy Research Institute, has said that the economic condition and the increasing rate of Covid-19 infection in the country are not matching with the target of an 8.2 percent GDP growth for the fiscal year 2020-2021.

"Here I can see an inconsistency. At one point, the government plans on setting a target of an 8.2 percent GDP growth for the fiscal year 2020-2021 in the hope that the coronavirus situation will come under control by September this year. On the other hand, the budget says it is a budget of saving lives," Dr Ahsan H Mansur told in his reaction on the budget.

"No other countries claim such positive growth as the whole world is in a crisis period," he added.

He suggested, "The government should increase the revenue this year and decrease the dependency level on the banking sector."
