Bangladesh Jewellery Society (BJS) has created four new categories to measure the purity and value of silver.
BJS will calculate good quality silver as 22 carats, then 21 carats, 18 carats and will measure the value of silver in the traditional way.
Bajus provided this information on Sunday in a press release signed by its president Enamul Haque Khan and general secretary Dilip Kumar Agarwala.
Dilip Kumar Agarwala said, "Innitially there was no category to measure silver before. These categories are determined according to the value of Silver. The price of silver will be reduced and increased like gold base on these categories."
According to the newly formed categories, the price of 22 carat heavy silver has been fixed at Tk1,516 per gram. The price of 21 carat silver has been fixed at Tk1,435 per gram, 18 carat silver at Tk1,225 and traditional silver at Tk 933 per gram.
