Biman recovers land worth Tk200 crore in Dhaka

Ministry of Housing and Public Works gave the land lease for 99 years to the Biman Bangladesh Airlines in 1987

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has recovered its illegally occupied 13.8 katha land worth around Tk200 crore in Satmasjid Road area in Dhaka's Dhanmondi today.

Biman's Magistrate Md Zia Uddin Ahmed led the drive under the direct supervision of Md Mahibul Haque, secretary at the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.

According to sources, the Ministry of Housing and Public Works gave the land lease for 99 years to the Biman Bangladesh Airlines to establish a new office on July 12, 1987. 

However, the land was illegally occupied for long by several encroachers, even the documents for the lease was prepared on June 26 in 1989.

After being aware of the encroachment, Md Mahibul took steps to recover the land. Finally, the land was recovered through the raid on Thursday after the completion of all official and legal process.
