Govt to sell low-priced milk, egg, meat in capital during Ramadan

The authorities will set up mobile sales centres at 20 spots across the capital

The fisheries and livestock ministry has taken an initiative to sell milk, egg and meat at low prices through mobile sales centres in Dhaka on the occasion of Ramadan. 

The mobile shops will sell beef at Tk640 per kg, mutton at Tk940 per kg, dressed broiler at Tk340 per kg, milk at Tk80 per litre and eggs at Tk10 each.

The government sales centres will be set up at Abdul Gani Road adjacent to the Secretariat, Khamarbari Road, Japan Garden City in Mohammadpur, Mirpur 60 feet Road, Azimpur Maternity Hospital, Naya Bazar in Old Dhaka, Arambagh, Notun Bazaar, Kalshi in Mirpur, Khilgaon Railgate, Lucas More in Nakhalpara, Segun Bagicha Kacha Bazar, Bosila of Mohammadpur, Diabari of Uttara, Jatra Bari, Gabtoli, Hazaribagh, Karail slum in Banani, Kamrangirchar and Rampura. 

The mobile shops will continue operating from the first of Ramadan to the 28th of that month, said sources at the ministry. 

The programme will be inaugurated at the Department of Livestock Services (DLS).

The fisheries and livestock ministry along with traders, producers and all those related to the supply chain will execute the mobile sales programme to keep the prices of meat, milk and egg stable and meet nutritional needs of the underprivileged people during Ramadan.

The ministry has been taking such initiatives since the start of the Covide-19 pandemic.
