Showkat Ali joined the Board of EBL in 1993

Md Showkat Ali Chowdhury has been re-elected as the chairman of Eastern Bank Limited (EBL) at the Board of Directors' meeting held on August 5. 

Showkat Ali joined the Board of EBL in 1993, says a EBL press release.  

He is successfully running a business conglomerate with diverse interests in ship breaking and recycling, tea plantation and production, RMG industries, real estate, agency business and engineering services, container terminal and handling, commercial banking, insurance, shares and securities. 

Showkat Ali, a graduate from the University of Chittagong, is involved with many local and international organisations. He is a life time member of SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bhatiary Golf & Country Club Limited, Chittagong Press Club Limited, and a member of Bangladesh Ship Recycling Association. 

He is also the first vice president of Chittagong Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
