School banking conference held in Nilphamari

A conference on school banking aiming to inspire students to save money was held on Monday at the Shilpakala Academy of Nilphamari.

The Brac Bank Ltd successfully coordinated the conference as the lead organiser, while Deputy Commissioner Md Hafizur Rahman Chowdhury inaugurated the event as the chief guest.

The organisers also brought out a rally participated by senior officials of all banks operating in the district, students from different educational institutions, their parents and teachers.

Nilphamari Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ashraf Hossain was present as the special guest and SM Zakir Hossain, manager of Brac Bank's district branch moderated the event.

The Brac Bank has a history of focusing on school banking to encourage the habit of saving money among the youth. School students can easily open accounts from any of the bank's 187 branches across the country.

AKM Masudul Islam, deputy director of Bangladesh Bank's Rangpur office, Md Abdus Sultan, assistant general manager of Sonali Bank's Nilphamari regional office, Omar Sharif, Rangpur cluster head of Brac Bank attended at the event among many others.

Representatives from Janata Bank, Agrani Bank, Rupali Bank, Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank, Pubali Bank, Uttara Bank, Padma Bank, Standard Bank, Mercantile Bank, Islami Bank, United Commercial Bank, Bangladesh Development Bank were also present at the conference.

The Bangladesh Bank recently directed all banks to spread the concept of school banking across the country.
