Nagad slashes transaction charge for SMEs
Nagad has also decided to stand beside five types of business and traders- pharmacy, essential goods, post office, market, and small and medium investors
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken various initiatives to protect small businesses from the impact of coronavirus pandemic.
In this regard, she urged all to stand beside the country from their respective positions in time of this crisis.
Responding to the Prime Minister's call, Bangladesh Post Office's mobile financing service Nagad has reduced transaction charge by Tk6 in every Tk1000 transaction for small and medium-scale businesses, said a press release on Thursday.
Minister for Post and Telecommunication Mustafa Jabbar and Director General of Bangladesh Postal Department Sudhangshu Shekhar Bhadra planned to cut the transaction cost in line with the Prime Minister's call.
As part of the plan, Nagad has introduced a new policy named Swadhin Merchant to stand beside the country's small businesses.
Under this policy, a Swadhin Marchent will be able to make business transactions to any other same businesses by paying only Tk6 as a charge against a transaction of Tk1000 each.
Nagad has also decided to stand beside five types of business and traders- pharmacy, essential goods, post office, market, and small and medium investors.
Besides, Nagad has cut its advertisement budget down to decrease transaction costs. It also implemented many other steps such as deducting no charge for cashing out of first Tk1000 and taking no settlement charge for essential commodity and medicine.
