Nagad, GP team up to accelerate financial inclusion
GP users will be able to open their Nagad accounts just by dialling *167# and then setting up the PIN
Nagad, the digital financial service of Bangladesh Post Office, has teamed up with Grameenphone Limited (GP) to bring GP users under mobile financial service quickly.
An agreement has been signed between Nagad and GP in this regard recently – enabling 7.6 crore GP users to open Nagad account just by dialling *167# and then setting up the PIN.
The service was launched through a virtual event on Victory Day Wednesday. Earlier, GP customers had been availing the service on a trial basis for a couple of months.

Department Md Siraz Uddin, Nagad Managing Director Tanvir A Mishuk and Grameenphone Chief Executive Officer Yasir Azman were present in the launching ceremony.
At the programme, Mustafa Jabbar thanked Nagad and Grameenphone to make the arrangement which the minister believes will facilitate the financial inclusion process. He said the initiative would play a significant role in the overall economic development of the country.
Grameenphone CEO Yasir Azman said, "This agreement shows our firm commitment towards Digital Bangladesh and digital financial inclusion through partnership. We are happy to connect our customers to what matters most to them."
Nagad Managing Director Tanvir A Mishuk said, "This revolutionary initiative will help bring the widest network base of the country under financial inclusion. Besides, it will also play a valuable role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)."
