Their reappointments were approved by the Financial Institutions Department of the Finance Ministry on Monday

The government has decided to reappoint Abdus Salam Azad as the managing director (MD) and chief executive officer of the state-owned Janata Bank and Zayed Bakht as chairman of Agrani Bank.

Their reappointments were approved by the Financial Institutions Department of the Finance Ministry on Monday, said circulars issued by the Finance Ministry.

As per the circular Abdus Salam Azad will hold the post until he turns 65-year old on April 29, 2023.

Abdus Salam is one of two MDs of Janata Bank who have served this bank for more than six years in this post.

Meanwhile, due to his re-appointment, Zayed Bakht will now serve as chairman of Agrani Bank for 9-year straight. This, on its own, is a rare event in the history of the country's state-owned banks.
