All types of transactions will be closed for these three days

Global Islamic Bank will remain closed from 1 April to 3 April for the purpose of data migration required to install an improved version of the core banking system.

According to bank sources, all types of transactions will be closed for these three days. However, the employees of the bank have to go to the office on 1 April.

The bank has recently started Islamic banking. Earlier, the company used to provide conventional banking services as NRB Global Bank.

In 2013, three NRB banks started their journey as fourth-generation banks on the initiative of expatriate Bangladeshis. NRB Global Bank was one of them.

Expatriate Bangladeshi Nizam Chowdhury is acting as the chairman of the bank. In February last year, the Bangladesh Bank approved the conversion of the bank into Islami Bank.

The bank has been operating as a full-fledged Islamic bank since 1 January this year. On the same day, Standard Bank also started the activities of Islamic Bank from Conventional Banking.
