Citibank NA Bangladesh recognised for digital leadership

In the 2020 World’s Best Corporate Digital Banks Awards, Citi got the winning title in 16 markets covered by the award programme

Citibank NA Bangladesh has recently been recognised for its digital leadership for the 13th year in a row by Global Finance. 

The recognition comes in the publication's annual World's Best Digital Bank Awards, said a media statement issued by the bank on Monday.

In the 2020 World's Best Corporate Digital Banks Awards, Citi got the winning title in 16 markets covered by the award programme. 

The bank was named best corporate digital bank in Australia, Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam, the media statement read.

The bank also won some sub-category awards which are— best online cash management services, best online treasury services, best mobile adaptive site, best mobile banking app and best open banking APIs. 

Since the beginning of the year, Citi's treasury and trade solutions business in Asia Pacific has seen a significant acceleration in the adoption of its digital platforms and capabilities. 

Citi's corporate mobile app user base has increased by eight-fold year-on-year in the first half of this year compared to the same period last year.

"Our investments in digital technologies have proven to be critical as the pandemic accelerates digital adoption among clients. Through these capabilities, we have been able to effectively continue to support our clients and their business operations during this time," said Rajesh Mehta, Asia Pacific Head of Treasury and Trade Solutions at Citi.

"We remain committed to being the preferred digital platform for digital commerce and continue to expand our digital banking infrastructure to support clients now and for the future," he added.

N Rajashekaran (Shekar), Citi country officer, Bangladesh said, "Citi's ever-evolving digital technologies are drivers of our digital economy. Our digital solutions are continuously helping our clients to operate effectively and build future compatible business models even during this pandemic." 

"We take immense pride in being recognised for our digital leadership for 13 consecutive years and would like to express our gratitude to Global Finance for the honour," he added.
