Brac Bank won the silver award last year for Corporate Governance Excellence

The Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) has awarded Brac Bank a gold award, in the General Banking category, at the 7th ICSB National Award for Corporate Governance Excellence, 2019.

The ceremony took place at the Radisson Blu Water Garden on Saturday, said a press release.

ICSB has awarded a total of 35 locally listed companies for excellence in corporate governance, this year.

Commerce Minister, Tipu Munshi MP, addressed the event as the chief guest. Chairman of the Jury Board, Dr AB Mirza Azizul Islam, joined the event over the telephone.

Accepting the award, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Brac Bank, Selim RF Hussain, said, "Governance, compliance, ethics, and transparency are the cornerstones of Brac Bank's business model. We believe in these values."

"This recognition from ICSB, for a second consecutive year, is a milestone for us towards becoming the best bank in the country. We thankfully acknowledge all our valued stakeholders for their continued encouragement and reliance on the organisation. We dedicate this award to our people," he added.

ICSB calls for applications from listed companies each year. Over 150 companies from 13 different sector categories submitted their annual reports for the 2019 fiscal year with supporting information that speaks of their corporate governance standard.

Last year, Brac Bank won the silver award at the 6th edition of the ICSB National Award for Corporate Governance Excellence.
