BB urges banks to send relief to flood-affected people
The central bank on Wednesday issued the directive to the banks and other non-banking financial entities
The Bangladesh Bank (BB) urges all financial institutions, both banking and non-banking, to help the flood-affected people as a part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The central bank on Wednesday issued the directive to the banks and other non-banking financial entities.
The BB urged financial institutions to provide necessary relief materials to the flood-hit people in north and north-eastern regions, as well as to coastal areas of the country under the CSR. The relief materials, specified in the directive, include food, clothing, safe drinking water, medicine, portable stoves, portable solar lantern etc.
The BB usually issues such directives to the banks and other financial institutions during various natural disasters including drought and flood.
According to the central bank rules, the banks must spend 30, 20, and 10 percent of their CSR budget on education, health, and climate change and disaster management, respectively.
