Though ASM Bulbul’s tenure ended, he was holding the post of acting MD of the bank

The Bangladesh Bank (BB) has instructed ASM Bulbul, the acting managing director of National Bank, to refrain from all kinds of activities of the bank as his tenure expired.

Though ASM Bulbul's tenure ended, he was holding the post of acting MD of the bank.

The central bank Tuesday ordered the bank not to allow Bulbul to get involved in any regular banking activities unless his reappointment, BB spokesperson Sirajul Islam confirmed the matter to The Business Standard today.

A letter was sent to the National Bank asking to inform it about under which contract Bulbul was working after end of the tenure. Bangladesh Bank was not satisfied with the reply by the bank.

Earlier in February this year, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) summoned Bulbul for questioning over allegations of bribery and embezzlement of more than Tk 100 crore from major organisations, including the Saad Musa Group.
