The directive would remain in force till 14 April

The central bank has requested banks to comply with six of the directives issued by the Prime Minister's Office on 29 March to deal with the rising coronavirus infections.

The Banking Regulation and Policy Department issued a circular in this regard on Wednesday, saying the directive would remain in force till 14 April.

According to the government health directives, it should be ensured that there are no gatherings inside banks while clients and employees must maintain social distancing.

If a client or employee returns from abroad, a 14-day quarantine has to be ensured.

Moreover, isolation must be ensured if an employee shows Covid-19 symptoms. Others coming in close contact with the infected person also need to be quarantined.

As per the guidelines, bank-related meetings, seminars, trainings, and workshops should be arranged online as much as possible. Wearing masks should be made mandatory for employees and clients when they enter and stay inside banks.

Considering the existing Covid-19 situation, hygiene rules have to be followed. Customer service has to be ensured through internal coordination of manpower.

In this regard, employees who are pregnant, sick, and over 55 have to take measures to stay home and work from there.
