The 28th EGM of Standard Bank Ltd held

The 28th Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of Standard Bank Limited was held at 11:00 am on Thursday through virtual platform.

Mr Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, Chairman of the Board of Directors, International Director of Lions Clubs International and former President of FBCCI presided over the meeting said a press release issued by the Bank.

Vice Chairman Mr Md Zahedul Hoque, Directors Messers Kamal Mostafa Chowdhury, Ashok Kumar Saha, Ferozur Rahman, Md. Monzur Alam, SAM Hossain, Al-Haj Mohammed Shamsul Alam, Mohammed Abdul Aziz, Ferdous Ali Khan, Al-Haj Mohd. Yousuf Chowdhury, Kazi Khurram Ahmed, Md Abul Hossain, Najmul Huq Chaudhury and Md Nazmus Salehin, Managing Director & CEO Mr Khondoker Rashed Maqsood, Additional Managing Director Mr. Md. Tariqul Azam, Deputy Managing Director Mr Md Motaleb Hossain, Acting Group Company Secretary Mr Md  Ali Reza FCMA and a large number of Shareholders of the Bank also attended the meeting on virtual platform.

At the very outset, the Hon'ble Chairman Mr. Akram Uddin Ahmed recounted the long-cherished dream of the Board of Directors to convert this Bank from conventional to a modern Islamic Shariah-based Bank, said the release.

He expressed his profound gratitude to the Almighty Allah while stating that the regulatory bodies of the Bank had given their nod in this connection in principle subject to approval of the amendment to the entire object clauses of the Memorandum of Association and insertion of new clauses therein, the amendments of the relevant clauses, Articles of Association relating to Islamic Shariah Principles by the Shareholders present in the EGM and subsequent clearance of the same by the Competent Court the release added.

He concluded his speech by thanking all Shareholders present in the meeting for their unflinching support towards the formation of a modern Islamic Shariah-based Bank in the country.

Mr Khondoker Rashed Maqsood, Managing Director and CEO also gave his welcome speech to the Hon'ble Shareholders on his mission to convert this Bank into a modern Islamic Shariah-based Bank.
