Bangladesh will achieve expected growth in FY21: Finance minister

The latest ADB report forecasted that Bangladesh’s economy is showing signs of early recovery and its GDP is expected to grow by 6.8% in the current fiscal year

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has reiterated that Bangladesh will achieve the expected 8.1 or 8.2% economic growth in the fiscal year 2020-2021, expressing happiness over the Asian Development Bank's (ADB) forecast envisaging Bangladesh's growth at 6.8%.

"In the last two months, we saw a 50% rise in remittance inflow, and our exports have also begun to bounce back on track," he said, according to a press release issued on Tuesday. 

The finance minister said, "Considering all those positives, we expect to achieve 8.1 or 8.2% Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth in the fiscal year 2020-2021."

In the "Mujib Year", country people have been working hard regardless of Covid-19 infections. The country is going to reach the expected economic growth only for their working spirit, Kamal said.
