Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Thursday said the economy of Bangladesh continues its stable growth despite the global economic stagnation.

He said all credits go to the people of Bangladesh for the progress.

He was speaking at a meeting with World Bank's Vice-President for the South Asia Region Hartwig Schafer and finance ministers from SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) countries in the US, a press release issued by the Finance Division said on Thursday.

Kamal said, "The ongoing economic and trade frictions have curbed global economic growth. For example, China's growth shrank to 7 percent from 14.4 percent."

"The International Monetary Fund projected that Bangladesh's economic growth would stand at 7.7 percent by the end of this fiscal year," added the minister.

On October 13, a team led by the finance minister, went to the United States to attend the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund. The meetings will end on October 20.

Among others, Governor of the Bangladesh Bank Fazle Kabir, Additional Secretary of the Finance Division Abdur Rouf Talukder, and Secretary of Economic Relations Division Monowar Ahmed are attending the meetings.
