New routes between Bangladesh and Manchester Airport will launch from Saturday (January 4).

It's hoped the direct links with the country's capital Dhaka and the cultural centre of Sylhet will boost the economy here in the North West, itv reports.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines will operate three flights per week between Manchester and Dhaka, using a two-class B787 Dreamliner aircraft. The service will route via the eastern city of Sylhet on its return from Manchester.

There's more than 70,000 people of Bangladeshi origin who live in the airport's catchment area.

The service is being launched by the Bangladeshi flag carrier.
