Bangladesh Biman Airlines has formed an inquiry committee over the fine of 4.5 lakh Saudi Riyal (SAR) (worth around Tk1 crore) that Saudi Arabia imposed on the airliner in 2017 for negligence in flight operation process.

The committee was formed three years after the incident as previous management did not dispose of the issue, said Md Mokabbir Hossain, managing director of the national flag carrier.

He said, "Airlines need to spray disinfectants in the aircraft as per normal procedure. But Biman's negligence was found in this process in 2017."

"The committee has been asked to find out the responsible person for this negligence and submit the report by this month," he added.
