The Covid-19 global pandemic has lead to the shortage of day labourers in the country's informal sectors.

Taking the issue into account, the Bank Asia Limited provided a reaper machine for farmers in Sreenagar upazila of Munsiganj district to help them reap crops during this time, said a press statement on Tuesday.

Musammat Rahima Akhter, Upazila Nirhabi Officer of Sreenagar upazila handed over the machine to Nazma Begum, a female farmer, at an event held at the Upazila Muktijoddha Chattor on May 5.

Farmers of Kamargaon and Arial Beel areas of the upazila could reap their paddy by using this machine.

Few days back, the bank provided six reaper machines for the farmers of Rajshahi and Nogaon districts.

Among others, Bipul Sarker, the bank's head of sirajdikhan branch, M Akter Hossain, its business development manager, agent banking Dhaka zone, and Nanda Kumar Bonik, deputy agriculture office at Sreenagar upazila, attended the event.
