140 companies named as top VAT payers
Nine companies at national level and 131 at district level selected for paying highest VAT in FY19
The government has announced the names of nine top value added tax (VAT) payers at the national level in three categories – manufacturing, trade and service – in the fiscal 2018-19.
At district level 131 companies have been named for the award, the National Board of Revenue announced in a circular on Sunday.

The national-level companies in the manufacturing sector are Popular Pharmaceuticals, Berger Paints Bangladesh, and Fair Electronics.
In the trading sector, Hamko Corporation, Siemens Bangladesh Limited and Unimart Ltd will receive the award this year. Hamko got the award last year, too.
In the service sector, Summit Communications, Qatar Airways Group, and Chittagong Warehouses Limited will be awarded. Qatar Airways and Chittagong Warehouses received the award also last year.
Top district level VAT payers
LabAid Pharmaceuticals, Siemens Healthcare, and Thai Airways will receive the trophy from Dhaka while Drug International, Hatil Complex, Niloy Motors from Gazipur.
Bashundhara Industrial Complex will receive the award from Narayanganj, RFL Electronics from Narsingdi, Akij Steel Mills from Manikganj, Square Toiletries from Pabna and Green Line Paribahan from Sylhet.
In the fiscal 2017-18, 135 district level companies received the highest VAT payer trophy.
The trophies are usually handed over to the recipients on VAT Day.
