100 customers receive Tk50 lakh in open loan distribution programme

Tk10-account holders received loans at a spot distribution programme in Cox's Bazar under Bangladesh Bank Refinancing Scheme.

Brac Bank, along with 25 banks in Cox's Bazar, distributed Tk50 lakh among the 100 account holders at the programme.

Financial Inclusion Department of the Bangladesh Bank organised the programme held at the BIAM Foundation in Cox's Bazar on Saturday in association with Brac Bank Limited. 

This programme was organised to bring the marginalised and landless farmers into the mainstream economy through Tk10-account initiative.

The commercial banks in Cox's Bazar are in the agreement with the Bangladesh Bank for refinancing scheme for Tk10-account holders for financial inclusion of the marginalised or landless farmers, victims of natural disaster and small businessmen who participated in the programme. 

In the programme, BRAC Bank handed over Tk50,000 loan to each Tk10-account holder – Md Shamsul Islam, Md Nejam Uddin, Ansar Uddin, Farman Ullah, Khing Ouna and Dalwar Hossain.

AKM Fazlur Rahman, the executive director, the Bangladesh Bank, was present at the programme as the chief guest. 

Syed Abdul Momen, head of SME Banking, BRAC Bank, Salauddin Hazari, regional head, Chattogram Region, Ahamd Shamsed Sultan Shaibal, branch manager, Cox's Bazar, BRAC Bank, and other senior officials of the participating banks were present at the conference.
