Tourists stranded in Saint Martin's are safe now

All tourists stranded on the Saint Martin's Island are safe as cyclone Bulbul did not have much impact there.

Last night, the island experienced moderate rain but there was no storm. The danger signal was lowered to number 3 this morning.

Around 1,200 tourists were stranded on the Saint Martin's Island as ferry services to and from the island were suspended after danger signal No 10 had been hoisted.

Abul Kalam Azad, a tourist who was stranded on the island with his family and friends, told The Business Standard last night, "The weather deteriorated fast after we had reached the island, and it started raining. The sea was blue when we landed, but the colour changed completely by the afternoon because of the big waves."

There were no government arrangements for the security of tourists except for the announcement about the danger signal, he added.
