More than 50 Bangladeshi men and women from about 30 Christian communities have contracted covid-19 in the United States.

All of them attended Christmas and a yellow ceremony in Manchester of Connecticut in December.

Many of them are in quarantine after initial treatment, a source in the local Christian community said.

After attending the ceremonies when one individual went to JFK Airport in New York to go to Bangladesh, her result came back positive after she got tested due to airport rules.

Authorities identified her infection and sent her back home from the airport. However, the next day she went to a local shopping mall..

She met many people there and hugged them after talking. People who hugged her were also reported to have contracted Covid.

Another Bangladeshi Christian living in Manchester, Connecticut, said he had also contracted covid-19 while attending a Christmas party.

He said that almost every Christian expatriate living in this city has been affected by Covid in one or two Bangladeshi families. He noted that even a small child had a Covid-19 infection.
