Noting that there is no alternative to wearing masks, he said “We may have cause for concern if people don’t comply with the health guidelines.”

The authorities will take steps to make the wearing of masks mandatory for all until the launch of an effective vaccine, said Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque.

He made the remarks at the Ministry on Tuesday noon while addressing an inter-ministerial meeting on combating the dreaded second wave of the coronavirus.

Minister Maleque assured that the health sector has the capacity to deal with the second wave of the virus.

Noting that there is no alternative to wearing masks, he said "We may have cause for concern if people don't comply with the health guidelines."

The Minister also mentioned that several European countries are already facing the second wave of the coronavirus.
