The IEDCR has collected samples from both the deceased for coronavirus test

Two persons died in Brahmanbaria with respiratory problems on Wednesday.

One of the deceased was 57 years of age, who was a resident of Bancharampur upazila of the district.

The other, a 20-year-old youth was an inhabitant of Muradnagar upazila of Cumilla. He died in Nabinagar Upazila Health Complex in Brahmanbaria where he was admitted with severe breathing difficulties. 

The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) have collected samples from both of them for coronavirus test.

Local people said the 57-year-old who had been suffering from breathing problems died at his house in Ruposdi village on Wednesday noon. Being informed, upazila health complex officials collected his samples, they added.

Confirming that the deceased had respiratory problems and heart diseases, Bancharampur Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr MD Al Mamun said they had collected samples from the deceased and would send those to Dhaka to find out if he was infected with the novel coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Moshrat Farkhanda Jerin, a residential doctor of Nabinagar Upazila Health Complex said the 20-year-old young man came to them with severe breathing problems. The following day, he had shown symptoms of pneumonia so doctors referred him to Dhaka, she said, adding that the patient however had died before he was picked by an ambulance to Dhaka.

"We have collected samples from him, and are processing those to send them to Dhaka for coronavirus test."
