One more doctor has died from the dreaded Covid-19, increasing the death toll to 73 in the health sector since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in the country.

Dr Rezwanul Bari Shamim, assistant professor of the Orthopedic Surgery Department of Shaheed M Monsur Ali Medical College, breathed his last at 2.30pm on Sunday at the age of 50.

"He died at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BSMMU)," said BMA President Dr Mostafa Jalal Mahiuddin, mourning his death.

He was a student of the 30th batch of Rajshahi Medical College.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, Ophthalmologist Dr Md Golam Mostafa died from the virus infection while undergoing treatment at Faridpur Medical College and Hospital.

He was the student of the 6th batch of Chattogram Medical College.

As of Sunday, some 2,531 physicians, 1,754 nurses and 3,011 health workers have been infected with the virus, many of whom have already recovered and returned to work.
