The much-anticipated vaccination campaign began in Bangladesh on 27 January by administering the shot to a nurse at Kurmitola General Hospital in Dhaka. Then the mass inoculation drive started on 7 February.

On Wednesday – the 15th day of the nationwide immunisation drive – Bangladesh vaccinated around 1.81 lakh people, raising the total inoculation to 2,673,038.

Of the Wednesday vaccine recipients, 112,099 were male, and 69,886 were female. As per health directorate data, 27,857 individuals were vaccinated in the capital alone.

The Health directorate said 39 individuals showed mild side effects after receiving the vaccine shot.

As of Wednesday afternoon, some 3,889,345 people have registered to receive the vaccine.

Bangladesh is operating the vaccination drive at 1,005 centres across the country. Except for on weekends, around 2,400 teams are inoculating citizens from 8 am to 2:30 pm every day.
