Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Humayun Kabir Khandaker and his two family members have been tested positive for Covid-19 infection.

The commissioner, 54, his wife Nasrin Khandaker, 45 and son Tanjim Mahatab, 17 were found positive for the virus on Monday night.

Their samples were tested at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) lab.

Confirming it to The Business Standard, Humayun Kabir Khandaker said, "One of his relatives was infected with the virus."

"The relative visited our house before he was diagnosed with Covid-19. We sent our samples for coronavirus test as we came in contact with the person," the divisional commissioner added.

He also said, "We are now at our government quarters. All of us are in good health so far. We do not have any other problems. Please pray for us."

Some 94 people were diagnosed positive with the virus at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital) lab Monday night, said Vice Principal of RMCH and head of Microbiology Department of the hospital Dr Bulbul Hasan.

He said, "Of the infected, 52 are from Rajshahi, 38 are from Natore, two each are from Chapainawabganj and Pabna and one from Jashore."
