Prof Muntassir makes recovery from Covid-19, returns home

Veteran historian Prof Muntassir Mamoon, who was undergoing treatment at Mugda General Medical College and Hospital for coronavirus infection, recovered and returned home safely on Monday.

Dr Muntassir, a professor (Bangabandhu Chair) at the History department of Dhaka University, confirmed the matter and said "I have returned home and now I'm in sound condition."

On May 4, the professor was tested positive for coronavirus after being admitted to Mugda General Medical College and Hospital with respiratory problems.

Meanwhile, country's coronavirus cases soared to 23,870 with the detection of 1,602 new patients in the last 24 hours till Monday morning while 21 more died raising the total death toll to 349, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.
