Pediatrics specialist of cancer institute dies of Covid-19

Dr Asaduzzaman, a pediatrics specialist of the capital's National Institute of Cancer Research & Hospital (NICRH), died from Covid-19 on Saturday afternoon. 

"He was undergoing treatment at the capital's Anwer Khan Modern Medical College Hospital," Dr Rahat Anwer Choudhury, joint secretary of the Foundation for Doctors' Safety, Rights and Responsibilities (FDSR) told The Business Standard. 

Dr Asaduzzaman was a graduate of the 30th batch of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College.

According to FDSR data, 54 doctors have died from Covid-19 in the country so far. Another 8 doctors died with Covid-19 symptoms. 

As many as 1,404 doctors have tested positive to the virus so far. 

Bangladesh today confirmed 34 more deaths from the novel coronavirus and 3,504 new cases of infection after testing 15,157 samples in the last 24 hours.

With this, the death toll from the deadly virus has risen to 1,695 and the number of total infections stands at 133,978.
