Mill owners donate 50 tonnes rice for day labourers in Bogura

Auto rice mill owners in Bogura have given rice worth about Tk 20 lakh to the district administration for the day labourers, who are currently unemployed due to the lockdown over coronavirus.

District Food Controller SM Saiful Islam asked the owners of rice mills to help the unemployed, and the traders initially gave the district admin 50 tonnes of rice and Tk5 lakh on Tuesday.

SM Saiful Islam said that 5,000 families will be benefited by the rice and cash given by the businessmen.

ATM Amulul Haque, president of Bogura District Rice Mill Owners Association, said that they have plans to provide further assistance.

The general secretary of the organisation, Md Aminul Haque Dudu, said that more rice and cash will be collected for the unemployed after talking to the owners of 50 auto rice mills as well as 2,000 husking mills.

Khan Auto Rice of Telora area under Dupchachiya upazila, has donated about 10 tonnes of rice. Other mills including Majumdar Auto Rice and Bushra Auto Rice are also helping the people under the shutdown situation.
